What it is
Loon UV Plasma Light is a rechargeable UV-curing light made for fly tying. At the bench it’s a high-power UV torch that kicks UV resins fast and leaves them cured hard, strong, and tack-free on the hook.
What to tie with it
Use it to cure UV resins wherever you want a clean, durable finish: smooth heads, sealed thread wraps, body coatings, and protective topcoats over materials that get chewed up. It’s also handy for building up resin in layers—apply a thin coat, hit it with the light to lock it in, then repeat until the shape is right.
Flies and the fish they're for
This light shows up most when you’re tying flies that rely on UV resin for their final shape and durability, like baitfish streamers and saltwater patterns with resin heads and coatings. Those are commonly fished for trout and smallmouth in rivers and lakes, and also for stripers and redfish where tough, tack-free finishes matter after a few fish and some sand. Any pattern you tie with UV resin—fresh or salt—benefits from a fast, thorough cure so the fly can go straight from the vise to the water.
