What it is
Loon UV Fly Finish is a colored UV-curing resin you apply as a liquid and set instantly with a UV light. On the fly it dries translucent with a subtle glow, so it adds color without turning the whole fly into an opaque blob.
What to tie with it
Use it anywhere you want controlled color and a clean, durable finish: small hot spots, trigger points, and quick “painted” accents over thread, tinsel, or dubbing. It’s also a go-to for nymph work like flashback backs and wingcase-style coatings where you want a thin, smooth shell.
Flies and the fish they're for
Even though specific patterns aren’t listed, this material shines on flashback-style nymphs and chironomid-style midge pupa where a tinted head or back can be the little trigger that gets eaten. Those are staple flies for trout in rivers and stillwaters, and chironomids are especially important on lakes and tailwaters when fish key on midges. The caddis-larva angle also points straight at trout fishing in freestone streams and tailwaters where caddis are a big part of the diet.
How it compares
It’s the colored companion to Loon UV Clear Fly Finish, used when you want the same UV-cured coating concept but with added color for hot spots and accents.
