It charges up in sunlight or with a flashlight and keeps showing up in low light or murky water, which is exactly when fish can have trouble finding a fly.

What to tie with it

Use it like standard chenille by wrapping it to form wound bodies on leeches, Woolly Buggers, large nymphs, and jig flies. It also works as a fast way to bulk up popper and Gurgler bodies when you want a thicker profile without a lot of extra steps.

Flies and the fish they're for

On a Woolly Bugger, Afterglow Chenille gives you a classic leech/minnow profile with added visibility for trout in rivers and stillwaters, and it also crosses over to bass and other predators in lakes and warmwater creeks where stained water is common. On Gurglers, it’s a way to keep a topwater fly easy for fish to track at dawn, dusk, or in off-colored water, especially for largemouth bass in ponds and lakes and for redfish on shallow flats when light is low.

How it compares

It ties in and wraps like Hareline Chenille, but Afterglow adds the glow-in-the-dark effect that standard chenille doesn’t have.
